LOS ANGELES, California – Rosewood Tucker’s Point is excited to announce that it has once again been certified by Green Globe, a world leader in certification of sustainable travel and tourism businesses. Rosewood Tucker’s Point is the only Green Globe member in Bermuda and the only property to receive this prestigious accolade within Rosewood Hotels & Resorts.
The certification process, which Rosewood Tucker’s Point first obtained in 2012, requires properties to follow a rigorous collection of 337 compliance indicators applied to 41 individual criteria in areas of sustainable management, social/economic, cultural heritage and environmental. Criteria range from conserving resources to the incorporation of local culture, to employee training regarding their role in environmental, sociocultural, health and safety practices.

Denaye Hinds, Director of Sustainability for OBM International and the Green Globe Auditor for the resort said, “A luxury brand meets responsible stewardship with the sustainability practices at Rosewood Tucker’s Point. A renewed sense of place, the resort’s focus on safeguarding the island’s resources is evident through water conservation, onsite treatment and reuse practices.
“The creativity and organic nature of the practices in Sense Spa, coupled with the use of local Bermudian ingredients and traditions combines learning and leisure allowing guests to experience natural treasures of Bermuda. Continuing to improve year upon year, Rosewood Tucker’s Point has a set framework to ensure further sustainability success for years to come,” added Denaye.
To complete the certification process, members undergo an independent on-site audit to ensure that their sustainability efforts have been thoroughly inspected. Obtaining the Green Globe certification is the culmination of more than $1 million in green capital investments at the resort. Rosewood Tucker’s Point green initiatives have included a $600,000 wastewater treatment plant, $100,000 solar hot water plant, $400,000 Sea Water Reverse Osmosis Plant, $100,000 Thermal Solar Hot Water System and the introduction of solar cars on property.
Kevin Lanthier, Facilities Management Team Leader since 2006, explained, “Every ounce of discharge water throughout the resort, including 60 estate homes, goes to the wastewater treatment plant and is reclaimed and diverted to a two million gallon pond that is used to irrigate the golf course.
“Virtually every area of sustainable initiatives that we maintain or pursue meet or exceed the expectations of Green Globe,” added Kevin.
In addition to a Green Team that meets on a regular basis, Rosewood Tucker’s Point trains its staff on a regular basis on how to properly clean a room, which green products to use and which items to recycle. The property also includes tent cards in the rooms that guests can leave on their beds to have their linens washed every other day.
